Chagou bem na dia certa!!

4/29/2009 10:13:15 A.M.

hey fam,
i had a great birthday and i really enjoyed all the letters and cards and the package. the best thing of all is that it all arrived on the 27!!! perfect timing!! we have district meetings on mondays and thats when we get our letters if we have them. so i showed up at the chapel and i had a stack of goods waiting there for me!! it was pretty sweet!! missionarys love the letters!!! also at lunch, some how the irmãs in the ward found out that it was my birthday and a bunch of them walked in during lunch with a big cake singing "parabéns pra você!" it was fun and we all got pretty much sick from eating so much.
tell grandma, loyal, kris and the kids that i loved the cards and the pictures. thanks for everything, mom.
tell jud that i said happy b day to him today also. he is 22 yrs old today!! seems crazy!! we have so many good times and great memories!! plenty more to come too!!!
i hope the jazz can get their heads together and pull out of the slump. i bet loyal and grandma are going crazy! everyone's excited for the summer to start i bet. only three more mondays and ty and arien are out again!!
so everything is flooding up now cause of all the rain? thats good cause we'll have a lot of water for the year. that means the lake will be good and full also....
everything is going great here and me and my comp are doing great! its a lot of fun to have a comp that doesn't know the language too well. funny stuff. im doing my best to help him out each day.
we've got two investigators that are getting prepared for baptizm right now and other than that we're teaching a lot of lessons each day.
so i will find out exactly how the call will be for mothers day and let ya know.
i love you guys so much!!! thanks for all the love and support.
have a great week!!

Mountain Daylight Time
hey fam
everything is going great and another week has come and gone on the mish.
my companion is David Pierce, the one that you described!! it's funny cause this week we were actually talking about how we could know each other from friends or relatives. all roads lead back to good old preston!!
We are working hard and getting a lot accomplished lately. we just stay excited about everything and it all turns out good. when something doesn't go as planned we just say, "que benção" and continue on. we're working with some people that have baptisms marked right now so were hoping for the blessings later on down the transfer.
it sounds like everyone is doing great back home.
that is cool that there are a bunch of people that i know coming home and taking off to serve missions. maybe when i get home i will be able to keep up with my portuguese with the people that live close by..
so i'm gonna be here in the same area for the mother's day call home. i was wondering if you still had the number that you called for x mas? let me know.
im glad that work is going good for you and dad. hopefully all the economy will clear up. every body here talks about how the US is in trouble and what not. i dont pay much attention to it.
i love you guys!!!!!! have a great week!!!!!!!!

Week of April 15th,2009

hello to my family that i love,
Its great to hear that the spring weather is finally getting to you guys there. I love the smell of fresh cut grass and the flowers blooming.
Dad's gonna get him a big garden going again this year huh? I thought that i was spoiled here with all the fresh fruit and what not but you guys are also gonna get the fresh watermellon and vegetables back home.
Easter was great!! the ward is good to the missionaries. we got a bunch of homemade chocolate eggs and treats that are probably gonna make me sick, but it was great.
So i got a new comp today, Elder Pierce, from Pleasant Grove, Utah. he has less time on the mission than i do. I've been leading the area for a while now, but now i 've really got to take the bull by the horns and work my hind-end off.
My old comp went home today. finished his two years. we had some good times and he was a good guy.
This new elder seems really excited and fun. we're gonna set some goals and i'm gonna do my best to help him continue on with the language.
Everything is going great!! i'll admit, sometimes i get caught up in the work and i forget about you guys, but every single time, every single time, that i get on my knees to pray, i thank my Heavenly Father for the wonderful family that i have!!! i love you all so much!!!!!!!!!!
te amo, te amo, te amo!
have a great week!!!!

Zone conference

This is what you look like when a tree branch comes back and whacks you a
good one as you are racing home after a HOT day of working with contacts!

Week of April 8th,2009

Hi Mom,
general conference week on the mission is the best. i love general conference!!! its so nice to hear all the talks and really be spiritually uplifted. i learned so much and it really got me excited for the future... elder neil anderson did talk to us a while back in a conference here so that was pretty cool to hear that he got the call as the new apostle. i especially liked the talks of the first presidency and then of course jefferey r holland always lays down a killer of a talk.
we have 2 baptisms marked this weekend so once again the week is gonna have a really great ending. 2 boys of a family that we have been teaching for a while. the parents would like to get baptized also but need to get married first. the boys are really excited about the church and the whole family already has a strong testimony about the book of mormon.
the book of mormon, if you really read it with the intention of learning something ,is an awesome powerful book. i have no doubt that it is true. i remember when i read it when i was in seminary. i read a good ten pages then remember nothing of what i had read but now its a different story.
spring is still trying to break its way through huh. dont worry it will come.
the elders in the office are gonna think im spoiled when they see another package for elder coats... its a good thing that i dont care what they think.
thanks for the packages. if you remember maybe put some more sunflower seeds in it, i am out.
tell everyone that i love them and that i feel their support in my life everyday.
i love you mom!! have a great week and i will talk to ya next week!

Week of March 31st 2009

Yo Family,
so the weather gave ya a little site of spring but now it is back to snow huh... it can't stay like that for too much longer so just enjoy it all ya can i guess.
we had a good week this week and everything is going well. i'm noticing that i'm able to turn the Portuguese on and off pretty naturally now. i'm able to just speak without thinking too hard. pretty cool!
i got the easter package this week also and me and my comp are enjoying it. in fact it's pretty much gone already.
the camera is way nice and it got to me untouched luckily. usually if you list that there is some kind of electronic thing in the box, the post office holds it and you have to pay a big fine to get it back. but it went through smoothly. i liked the utah jazz t shirt also. thanks for the birthday presents.
ty and jud are already getting back into the riding this year. i'm sure that they're happy with that. so what kind of bike did ty buy??
it's already spring break at school!! just 2 more months and he will be out for the summer already!! arien will be glad for the break too i bet. that is cool that the principal already had her sign for next year.
so has grandma called ya today to do her traditional april fools joke of the circus in the back yard? silly grandma. ha ha. april fools is celebrated here also. its called dia da mentira. (day of the liar. )
i'm still with my comp from idaho falls and he is going home in 15 days. he is so excited. i guess two years would do that to ya.. we're doing great though and we've got some baptisms marked this month so 'im hoping that we can help these investigators out. i'm gonna be in this area for at least 7 more weeks. i'll make 6 months here in this area but it's all good cause this is a good area. i know right where almost all the streets are here now.
i'm glad that all the guys are doing good in their parts of the world. it's sure gonna be an awesome reunion when we all get back together again to talk our strange languages and talk about the missions.
i get to call you guys next month. mothers day. it will be here before we know it.
i love you guys!!!!!! have a great week.
