Week of January 25th, 2009

Dear Family,

Another transfer has come and gone and I'm with an elder now from Idaho Falls.
I would have liked to have stayed another transfer with Elder Da Cruz but he had a lot of time in this area. We had a good transfer with lots of success together. I'm gonna miss him.
My new comp only has 3 months until he goes home. He better not get into talking about airplanes and what not or I'll have to kill him! (jk.) He seems like a good guy and were gonna work hard to keep the work going in this area. This is my first day with him.
Sounds like the store is really changing mom! its gonna be all tricked out, and the new calling in church is gonna be a great opurtunity for ya. Ii love learning more about Joseph Smith and all he did to restore the true gospel back to the earth.
I'm glad to hear that Jud's wrist is doing good. Ty's loving the snow and grandma's sweating bullets over it. same old same old...jk. I'm sure that new jazzy car of hers will do good in the snow.
Is Arien's class doing good?
I'm glad that Big J's is opening back up. Kris sure loves that job. I'm sure the high schoool kids will be happy also.
Good to hear every body that is serving is doing good. It won't be too long before a few start returning home! Crazy!!
The language is still coming along. Eu tou aprendendo mais cara dia. Pretty cool. It really is an interesting language.
I love you guys so much!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Have a good week.

Week of January 19th, 2009

Querida Familia!
we had a full week that ended really good. we had a baptism with 3 kids that went really good. the parents are ready to get baptized also but they are just waiting for their wedding papers. there is nothing better than having a baptism on the mish. that and p-day...
sounds like everyone is doing good and your loving all the snow. jk.
thats awesome that ty passed the math isat. i sure had a struggle with that dang test. his school year is going really good. maybe we could get going with the college thing when i get home.
that stinks that there are so many people getting laid off at Jud's work. is he still working there or did they lay him off to? is his wrist just about healed?
so arien has her own class room now and teaching. pretty cool. i bet that she is really liking it.
has the store changed a lot since i left. im thinking that by the time i get home stokes will be a little mini mall! everyone here keeps asking me about barrack obama? i Know nothing about all that other than he is the president there now . the name of the president here in brazil is lulu. .
that was a pretty cool story about brady. im glad that he is out now though. he wont regret it. he didnt really need the jeep any ways. it would just sit the whole time he is gone probably.
i cant believe that kolby only has 7 months left. just about the time i have out. that will be a cool trip for them to go pick him up. they are gonna get lost with cierra doing the talking..jk. no that should be way cool.
i love you guys. have a good week and ill talk to ya later.

Week of January13th,2009

everything is going good for me here.
today was my zones temple day. we met at the temple had trainings, interviews and then went through a session. the temple is great! the temple here in Curitiba is beautiful and it sure is nice to go through, forget about everything and really feel the spirit.
this week has gone well and we're planning for some baptisms at the end of the week.
eu esperou que vai dar certo.
this last sunday the bishop, bisbo cleber asked me to give a talk. it went really well and it surprised me cause i was actually less nervous than i would be to give a talk in english. i talked about christ like attributes. everyone told me that they enjoyed it so im thinking that they all understood.
that's cool that arien is underway with the teaching. im sure that she brings an apple with her everyday to put on her desk to be official...
jud finally got a room for himself and not only that but the best room in the house.
im sure ty is really glad about not having to take biology. he aint the brightest bulb, just like the rest of us!
tell rob and kam to just keep shooting and their shots will fall. even if the score is 400-8! im not sure if that is possible...
with brady's farewell this weekend, that is just about everyone out in the field. for sure he wont regret serving a mish.
i bet all you moms had a good time talking about the x- mas calls. its good to know that everyone is doing good. we write each other when it is possible. it takes about a month to get a letter out to Thailand and Argentina and all those crazy places around the world.
i love you guys and i pray that everything is going well and that everyone will continue to work hard everyday. have a good week and try to stay warm!!!!!!!!!!!!
ha ha!!!

Week of January 4th

Dear Mom,

So im guessing that your friend at work is giving you tips on the portuguese.... it was almost correct.
everything is moving right along here for me and my companion. teaching lessons and inviting people to the waters of baptism. we have three really good families that we are working with right now and have dates marked with them. they just need to do their part and read and pray. sounds like you guys had a good finish to the holiday season with the birthdays and all. happy birhtday dad! 47. man your getting up there. no matter how old ya get though i know that you'll still be able to crawl under a car and get the job done. age wont get in the way.
Arien, 25, im sorry but i think the nursing home won't except people with your mentality..... just kidding! you're getting off to a good start already with that teaching job. its pretty sweet that your gonna have your own classroom and everything. let me know how the first day goes.
i did get the package with the slick electric razar. its a nice one and it is so much faster to use.
we made a big pot of smashed taters and gravy today. it was so good! my companion loved it too. i got a lot of letters that members of the home ward sent. lots of cool cards and what not. today i got the picture of ty and of arien's graduation. i dont know if i can believe that ty is 6 ft tall.... to me he sounded a little different on the phone but now i know why, he is a tall, bald kid...
i am really surprised with the language. me and my comp go all day talking and half the time i'm just responding to him with out even thinking. i'm teaching him english also. he way cool and were workin really good together.
i love you guys and i know that your all doing good. just keep workin hard and sayin your prayers.
have a good week there with all ten feet of snow. i'll keep on trekin here in sunny 100 degree brazil. Elder Coats
